ME Team Leads the First Learning Express Program with Singapore Polytechnic

The Faculty of Engineering at the Royal University of Phnom Penh and Singapore Polytechnic jointly conducted Learning Express Program 2026 from 30 March to 10 April 2026.

As the first Learning Express Program conducted at RUPP, the 12-day program brought students together for an experiential learning journey based on Design Thinking, cross-cultural collaboration, and community engagement. Working with FairFarms in Kampot Province, participants investigated real agricultural challenges and transformed their ideas into six low-resolution prototypes.

The program began with field observations, interviews, and discussions at FairFarms. Participants learned directly from the community and explored three challenges: improving the harvesting and separation of pepper berries, supporting a more sustainable pepper-making process, and making better use of underutilised resources to strengthen livelihood opportunities.

Using the insights collected from the community, the teams developed problem statements, generated ideas, and selected concepts for prototyping. They produced six low-resolution prototypes—simple early-stage models used to make their ideas visible, explore how they might work, and collect feedback before detailed development.

The teams then presented their prototypes during the Gallery Walk, explaining the community needs and ideas behind their proposed solutions. Feedback and reflection helped participants identify how their concepts could be further improved.
